Terms of Use

Last updated: 28 September 2026

Summary

These terms cover your use of the Shooter app and the getshooter.app website. The short version:

What you get

  • The app is yours to use for personal training and practice
  • Purchases are billed and refunded by Apple or Google, not by us
  • You keep ownership of every photo you submit

What to be aware of

  • Scores are computed estimates — not certified results for official competitions
  • Free-tier limits and features may change over time

If anything below conflicts with consumer rights the law gives you, the law wins.

Who we are, and what you're agreeing to

Shooter is an iOS and Android app for scoring paper shooting targets, together with the companion website at getshooter.app, operated by Shooter Team. You can reach us at shooter.support@gmail.com.

By installing or using the app, or by using the website, you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don't use the service.

Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control. This license is for your own training and practice. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app or access to it.

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, your license to the iOS app is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA") — the in-app Terms link on iOS points there. These Terms of Use continue to apply to the website and to everything outside the license itself (our services, purchases, acceptable use, and the Privacy Policy); if the Standard EULA and these terms conflict regarding the iOS app license, the Standard EULA controls. If you downloaded the app from Google Play, the store's own terms also apply to your download.

Subscriptions and purchases

Shooter offers a paid Pro tier, sold as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly).

  • Billing is handled by the store. All purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are billed by Apple or Google. We never see your name, payment card, or billing address.
  • Auto-renewal. If you buy an auto-renewing subscription, it renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their refund policies — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com or through Google Play support.
  • Price changes. We may change prices for new purchases at any time. For existing subscriptions, we will give you notice before a price change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.
  • Entitlements. We use RevenueCat to verify purchases and manage what your purchase unlocks, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • AI credits. Shooter also offers AI credits as one-time consumable purchases (sold in packs), billed by the store the same way as other purchases. A credit is consumed only when an AI analysis returns a presentable result — if an analysis fails, no credit is charged and any credit already deducted for it is automatically refunded to your balance. Once a credit has been consumed for a successful analysis, it is not refundable through us (Apple's and Google's own refund policies, linked above, still apply to the purchase itself). Credits never expire, are tied to your device identity, and are separate from Pro — a Pro subscription does not include AI credits, and AI credits do not require Pro.

Getting a new phone

Because Shooter has no account to log in to, what you have paid for is tied to a random identity your device carries — pseudonymous rather than anonymous, as the Privacy Policy explains: it identifies your device across sessions without telling us who you are. What happens when you replace the phone depends on whether you stay on the same platform.

  • A new phone on the same platform (iPhone to iPhone, Android to Android) picks up your existing identity from your own iCloud or Google account, as described in the Privacy Policy. Pro and your credit balance come with it, without you doing anything. This requires that you are signed in to the same Apple or Google account and have not turned that storage off.
  • Switching platform (iPhone to Android, or the reverse) is different, because Apple and Google sell and bill separately and a purchase made in one store cannot be moved to the other. Pro must be bought again on the new platform. Your credit balance is not lost — contact us at shooter.support@gmail.com from the new device and we will move it across.
  • A subscription is always cancelled where it was bought, in the App Store or Google Play settings of the store you bought it from — installing the app on another platform does not cancel it, and buying Pro on a second platform does not stop the first subscription from renewing.

Free tier, quotas, and availability

The free tier of Shooter, including the number of AI-scoring requests included with it, is provided at our discretion and may change over time. Quotas, rate limits, and which features are free versus Pro may be adjusted.

We provide the service on a best-effort basis. The core of the app works offline on your device, but server-backed features (AI scoring, the analysis and drill catalogue, web pairing) depend on our infrastructure and third-party providers and may be unavailable from time to time. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features — if we discontinue something material to a paid purchase, we will say so with reasonable notice.

Your content

Some features let you send photos of your targets to our servers — sharing scans to improve detection, or opting in to AI scoring. When you do:

  • You keep ownership of your photos.
  • You grant us a license to store and process those photos for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy — evaluating and improving target detection, and producing your AI scoring result.
  • You confirm that you took the photos or otherwise have the right to submit them.

You can request deletion of submitted photos at any time — see the Privacy Policy's "Your rights" section.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service. In particular, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with or disrupt the service, or attempt to access it in ways the app does not provide
  • Circumvent rate limits, quotas, purchase verification, or device attestation
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction
  • Submit content that is unlawful or that you have no right to submit
  • Use the service to build a competing dataset or service from our detection results

We may throttle or block requests that violate these rules.

Scoring is an estimate

Shooter is a training aid. Scores, ring values, hole positions, and statistics are computed estimations produced by image analysis. They are not certified and must not be used as official results in sanctioned competitions. Where an official result matters, follow your federation's scoring procedure — a human with a scoring gauge outranks the app.

No warranty

To the extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that scoring will be accurate, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that defects will be corrected.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the service. To the same extent, our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Your consumer rights (EU / Sweden)

If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA, or Sweden, you have statutory rights that these terms do not reduce.

  • Statutory rights unaffected. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under EU consumer law or the Swedish Consumer Sales Act and related legislation.
  • 14-day withdrawal right. Digital purchases made through the App Store or Google Play come with a 14-day right of withdrawal, which is handled under Apple's and Google's own store terms — request it through their refund flows linked above.

Termination

You can stop using the app at any time. To remove your data from our servers, use Profile → Data & transfer → Delete my data in the app; uninstalling removes local data from your device.

We may suspend or terminate your access to server-backed features if you materially violate these terms — for example, by circumventing quotas or abusing the API. Where reasonable, we will warn you first. Termination does not affect purchases already billed by Apple or Google or your rights under their refund policies.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country you live in. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Swedish courts.

If you are a consumer, you may also refer a dispute to:

  • ARN — Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes), arn.se
  • The alternative dispute resolution body for your country, if you live elsewhere in the EU/EEA — the European Commission maintains the official list at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page and surface a notice in the app or on the website. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
