A coach in your
range bag.

Every shot is data, but data isn't progress. Shooter highlights the trends that actually move the score: the day your group tightened, the click that recentered you, the breath you forgot.

Tag sessions by ammunition, conditions, and discipline. Compare like-for-like. Export your competition data for your coach. The good days repeat themselves — once you can see them.

Got a target
we don't
support yet?

Shoot the card. Photograph it the way you actually would on a range day — in sun, in shade, hanging on the frame, lying on the bench, a little tilted. The auto-tuner learns the ring geometry, the gauge rule, and the decimal mode from those natural variations.

Beta: the auto-tuner currently works on concentric-ring faces only (ISSF, NRA, club paper). Silhouettes and zone targets come in a later release.

Add custom targets: photograph a paper target, the phone scans it, and the app generates a ready-to-use scoring config.

Questions
from the line.

How accurate is camera scoring vs electronic targets?
In our internal validation against RIKA and SIUS systems at sanctioned competitions, ring agreement is 99.4% and decimal deviation is below 0.1 mm at the median. Camera scoring won't replace electronic targets at the Olympics, but for training, club leagues, and most match formats, the difference is well inside the noise of paper itself.
How is the score actually computed?
Gauge-rule scoring per ISSF Rule 6.3.4.2 — the bullet edge is detected sub-pixel, then half the bullet diameter is added to the ring contact (we don't measure the splatter by eye). Decimals are reported to 0.1 ring when the ruleset allows. Every override you make in the review pass is recomputed from the raw measurement, not edited on top — there's an audit trail. Validated against RIKA, SIUS, and DISAG systems.
Does it work with my target?
Eighteen federation faces ship today across ISSF, NRA, USPSA, IPSC, BDS, DSB, and F-class. Each is calibrated against the official paper and the official scoring rules. If yours isn't on the list, send us a photo and the ruleset — most additions ship in the next monthly release.
What about lighting and angle? My range is dim.
The camera pipeline auto-corrects perspective up to ±25° tilt and adapts exposure on capture. Indoor cement bunkers, fluorescent lights, and direct sun all work. The viewfinder will tell you in real time if it can't see the ring boundary — usually a half-step closer fixes it.
Is my data private?
All scoring runs on-device. Photographs and shot data never leave your phone unless you explicitly export a session or opt into iCloud sync. There's no account required, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. Your dope is yours.
Can I use it for sanctioned competition?
Use it as a training and club-level scoring tool. For sanctioned matches, defer to your federation's officiating system — but bring Shooter for the practice cards, the dope book, and the post-match review. Several club leagues have already adopted it for unofficial relay scoring.
