Need your shooting on paper or in a spreadsheet? Export a PDF or CSV
The Shooter app can turn your history into a file: a PDF you can share, for example with a club if they ask for your history, a CSV with a row for every shot, or a PDF report on where your points go. The files are made on the phone and passed to the phone’s own share sheet. The app does not upload the file.
This article covers the Export page, its filters, and what each file holds. The club’s register files are in the club attendance register, the activity log is in range days per gun, and a full copy you can restore is in back up and restore.
Where to find it
Profile tab, or a discipline page
Open the Profile tab, and in the “Data & transfer” group tap “Export report”. The page has two rows: “Export shooting activity” (PDF or CSV) and “Export analysis report” (PDF). On a discipline’s page there is also an “Export” row, once the discipline has sessions, that offers the same two documents for that discipline.
Exporting shooting activity
Preview, filter, then Share
- Tap “Export shooting activity”. A preview of the PDF opens.
- Narrow it with the filter bar above “Share” if you like. The preview is rebuilt.
- Tap “Share”, choose PDF or CSV, and tap “Share PDF” or “Share CSV”.
- The phone’s share sheet opens. Mail, messages, Files or print: the destination is whatever you pick.
For the PDF you can type an identification, such as a membership number, that is printed under your name. It is not saved: it is gone when you close the preview, so you type it again next time, and it is up to 64 characters. The CSV never carries it.
Filters
Year, latest sessions, discipline, gun, club
The filter is the same one as in your statistics. You can narrow by year (all years or one calendar year), by the latest 1, 5 or 10 sessions, by discipline, by gun, and to the sessions you marked as club sessions. A gun filter leaves out sessions without a gun.
There is no free date range, and no filter by range, ammunition or session type. When the export is narrowed, the PDF prints the scope near the top. An unfiltered export prints none.
What the PDF holds
Overview, tables and every session
- A header with your name as stored on the phone, the optional identification, the period, when it was made, and a short reference code that only identifies the file.
- “Weapon numbers”: the weapon ID and licence number of each gun that has them, printed as typed. See gun records in the app.
- An overview of sessions, series and shots, a table with a row for each gun (caliber, series and shots), and a table with a row for each discipline with average and best.
- A list with one row for every series in the selection, newest first, with date, discipline, range name when set, shots, score and average. Sessions you marked as club sessions carry a mark.
- If you have set a minimum number of shots for a session to count, the sessions that reach it are also listed day by day. This is a list made from your own setting, not an official approval.
The PDF is as long as your selection, with no cap on the number of sessions. It is not signed and nothing can verify it. The PDF text follows the app language.
What the CSV holds
One row per shot, 25 columns
The CSV has one row per shot, for scanned and typed shots alike, in 25 columns with English names that are not translated. They cover the session (id, name, type, date), the discipline and distance, the caliber of the ammunition chosen, the gun name, licence number, weapon group, weapon ID and range name, then series number, shot number, ring value, score, decimal score and inner-ten flag, and the shot’s position as a fraction of the target and in mm. It also has your participant code, the identifier club registers use for you, if the phone has one, so remove that column before you send the file to someone who should not have it. When you have set a minimum number of shots for a session to count, it also has the number of sessions that reach it for the gun.
Typed shots have empty position cells. Your name is not in the CSV. The file is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark so that Excel reads it correctly. A selection with no shots gives a file with only the header row. A CSV cannot be imported back into the app: for that, use a backup.
The analysis report
One discipline, PDF only
The “Export analysis report” row opens a report for one discipline at a time, with the same filter. It shows the shot pattern, results for practice, tests and matches, where the points go, observations the report itself marks as automatic and for you to confirm, a table of sessions, and the series of the latest three. See analysis of your shooting.
When you share it, you can add a note to your coach, up to 500 characters, printed only on that PDF and not saved. The analysis report holds no licence numbers.
Files and privacy
Made on the phone, not uploaded
The files are written to the app’s temporary storage and removed shortly after the share sheet closes. If the phone has no share sheet, the file is kept and the app shows where it is. No account, internet or storage permission is needed for the activity PDF or the CSV. Exports contain what you typed in, including licence numbers and your name in the PDF, so check the destination before you send one.
Frequently asked questions
4 questions
Is anything uploaded when I export?
The app does not upload the file or anything in it; it only counts that an export was made, like its other usage events. The file is made on your phone and handed to the share sheet, and if you pick mail or a cloud app, that app sends it.
Can I export one session?
Not from the session screen. Use the filter to narrow the export, for example to the latest session. You can also share a score as an image.
Can I import the CSV into the app again?
No. The CSV is for spreadsheets. A backup is the file you can restore from.
Is the PDF an official certificate?
No. It is a log made from your own sessions and settings. A club’s own register and certificate are written by the club.
