Sport shooting in Denmark
Danish club shooting is organised by DGI Skydning, part of the sports association DGI, and by Dansk Skytte Union, Denmark’s ISSF member. De Danske Skytteforeninger, the shooting-club movement founded in 1861, moved its shooting into DGI in 2013 and lives on as Skydebaneforeningen Danmark, which looks after the ranges.
All of it follows one shared safety rulebook, SIKSKY, and a gun may be used in a match only under the organisation the shooter’s club belongs to. Indoor .22 rifle at 15 m is Denmark’s own national discipline, shot through the winter in both organisations.
Gun licence in Denmark
- Pistol: age 20 and at least two years as an active shooting member of a club, which the chairman confirms in writing; DGI’s SKV guidance counts at least six times a year.
- Club members hold their guns on a våbenpåtegning (weapon endorsement) on the membership card, given by the club with the police’s consent for five years.
- A third pistol of the same or a similar calibre needs special reasons, mainly sporting ones, and more than six pistols above .22 are allowed only in exceptional cases.
