DFS targets
Det frivillige Skyttervesen keeps Norway’s nationwide network of local rifle ranges, for the Armed Forces and for society, under a purpose approved by the Storting; its clubs shoot only its own programmes — range, field, ski-field and 15 m indoor. Its biggest day is the yearly Landsskytterstevnet, where the best 15 shoot the Kongelaget final for the King’s Cup.
Beginners aged 10 to 15 shoot .22 rifles with a rest, and every one of them gets the same prize. Outdoors every DFS gauge has an 8 mm flange, even for a .22, and ties go to the most inner tens, then tens, then nines. Its skill badge, Dugleiksmerket, can be shot once a year, and a first-timer may go straight for gold.
