- Malfunctions
- Standard Pistol has a 150-second stage and combined 20- and 10-second stages. A timed series interrupted by an allowable malfunction is repeated after all other shooters have finished the stage, once in the 150-second stage and once in the 20- and 10-second stages.NSRA rules 9.6.3.2 and 9.6.4.2
- Commands
- Each series starts at the command “Fire”, and every shot fired after it counts; “Not ready” may be called only once per relay. Unless the competition’s rules say otherwise, a 10-shot series has 10 minutes.NSRA rules 9.5.6.4 and 9.5.6.6
- Pistol
- One of the pistols allowed is a .22 rimfire single shot, semi-automatic or revolver with a barrel, including any cylinder, of at most 254 mm (10 in), sights at most 254 mm apart and a trigger that holds 1 kg.NSRA rule 9.2.1.1
- Gauging
- Cards are gauged inward: the edge of the hole nearest the centre sets the value, and when the gauge’s flange touches a line, the higher value counts. Shots outside the scoring rings have no value.NSRA rule 5.1.6
- Penalties
- Shots fired before the command “Fire”, after “Cease fire” or after the signal ends are paid for in the highest-value shots: as many as were fired in error are scored as misses.NSRA rule 5.4.5
- Shoot-off
- In individual championships a tie is shot off: 10 more sighting shots and 10 to count, then, if still tied, a sudden-death shoot-off.NSRA rule 5.6.6

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your X count, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.
Scored with AI for now, which needs internet and your permission to upload the photo to an AI service in the US. Some AI scans may be free while we collect photos of this target; then each uses an AI credit (sold in packs in the app). Scoring by hand is free.
