NSRA 25m Pistol (PL7) target

PL7 is the NSRA's code for the ISSF pistol precision target, listed for free and slow-fire pistol and for standard pistol. In the NSRA's postal pistol leagues each round is 20 shots, on PL7 at the longer range or on the short-range PL15 card — and where either may be used, shots scoring 1 to 9 on PL7 count one point more. The same card is also used as the DSB Nr.4 25m Pistol (DSB, Germany), the FFTir C50 Precision Pistol (FFTir, France), the ISSF 25m Precision Pistol (.22) (ISSF) and the SPSF 25m Precision Pistol (SPSF, Sweden).

Postal leagues
In the NSRA's postal pistol leagues — Club Pistol for teams of three, and Individual Pistol — each shooter fires 20 shots a round, at 20 yards on PL15 or at 50 m on PL7.NSRA Winter Competitions Booklet, comp. 270; Summer Competitions Booklet, comp. 375
Time
Unless a competition's rules say otherwise, each 10-shot pistol series has 10 minutes from the command 'Fire', and every shot fired after it counts.NSRA Rules and Regulations, rule 9.5.6.6
Positions
The pistol is held in one hand; shooters under 13 may use two hands at competition levels 3 to 8, that is, everywhere except championships run to full ISSF rules (level 1) and international team matches at national meetings (level 2).NSRA Rules and Regulations, rules 9.4.1, 9.4.2 and 4.6
Gauging
Both leagues allow .177 or .22 air pistols and free pistols; where either calibre may be used, every card is scored with a .22 gauge.NSRA Competitions Booklets, comps 270 and 375, and Postal Competitions Handbook, Scoring
PL7 bonus
Where a competition allows either PL7 or PL15 cards, shots scoring 1 to 9 on a PL7 card count one point higher than their normal value.NSRA Postal Competitions Handbook, Scoring
Ties
On a single range, ties for prizes in kind go to the higher last 10-shot series, counting back series by series, then to the most 10s, 9s, 8s; failing that, whoever's last target has the shot farthest from centre loses.NSRA Rules and Regulations, rule 5.6.3.1

The Shooter app's scan screen, shown with an ISSF 10m Air Pistol card: each shot marked, the score, and the size and centre of the group

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your inner tens, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.

Scored on your phone, with no internet needed. Your first 10 scans are free, with no account; after that, scanning needs Shooter Pro, an auto-renewing subscription you can cancel in the store (prices). Scoring by hand stays free.
