WBSF 50m Rifle (22 Hunter) target
The WBSF’s international rimfire score card, shot at its World Rimfire Benchrest Championship, held every two years: four days of three-card matches, two for teams and two for individuals. There is a single class, any .22 LR rifle up to 14 lb, and coaching on the firing line disqualifies both the coach and the shooter.

How it is shot
Championships · Time · Distance · Rifle · Coaching · Gauging · Plugging · Ties
- Championships
- A match is three cards. The World Rimfire Championship is four days of one three-card match each: two for the team championship, then two for the individual championship.WBSF rules B.5 and D.2
- Time
- Each card must be finished within 20 minutes, without exception, and a competitor has at least 20 minutes between the end of one card and the start of the next.WBSF rules D.3 and D.4
- Distance
- A host country that traditionally shoots metric distances may run the championship in metres, and then every event is metric. Records are kept separately for metric and imperial distances.WBSF rules A.9 and A.22.c
- Rifle
- There is one rifle class: any .22 LR rifle up to 14 lb (6.35 kg), with no limit on trigger weight or scope power. The trigger must be manually operated, and the stock at most 3 in wide at the fore-end and of conventional design.WBSF rule B.6
- Coaching
- Coaching on the firing line is not allowed. It disqualifies both the coach and the coached shooter from the whole tournament.WBSF rule B.16
- Gauging
- Scoring is best edge: a hole touching the next ring’s line, with no gap, scores the higher value, and one touching the inner ring scores an X. A shot in a scoring face but outside its largest ring scores 0.WBSF rule C8a
- Plugging
- Doubtful shots are checked with a certified .220 in plug or slide and marked “P”, and cannot then be re-plugged in a protest or score query. A face with more than one shot counts its lowest score, less a point per extra shot.WBSF rules C8c and C8d
- Ties
- Ties are broken by the X count; if still equal, a tie is recorded. In the grand aggregate, a tie goes to count-back from the last card each competitor shot, by the first X missed, from face 1 to face 25.WBSF rules C9 and C9b

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your X count, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.
Scored with AI for now, which needs internet and your permission to upload the photo to an AI service in the US. Some AI scans may be free while we collect photos of this target; then each uses an AI credit (sold in packs in the app). Scoring by hand is free.
