How it is shot
Positions · Rifle · Course · Championships · Gauging · Misses and extras · Ties
- Positions
- Production is shot seated, the rifle on a front rest only, with no rear support. The weak hand holds the butt between thumb and index finger, four fingers in view; breaking this rule means immediate disqualification.UITS rules 1 and 11
- Rifle
- Production admits only the .22 LR rifles on the UITS list (Annex A): at most 4.5 kg (± 50 g) with scope and accessories, magazine-fed, one magazine (or a dummy one for single loading) per match, and an analogue scope of up to 12×.UITS rules 12.3 to 12.3.10
- Course
- A qualifying match is two cards of 25 shots, one per record bull, each card in a 20-minute turn with a 10-minute break between. Sighting shots are unlimited, only on the three sighting bulls at the top, within the same time.UITS rules 13.3 and 14.1
- Championships
- The Italian championship has at least six qualifying matches; each shooter’s best four count, and the best 30 shoot a final of three cards, 20 minutes each. The Italian champion is the shooter with the highest three-card total.UITS rules 14.2, 20.2, 22 and 23.2
- Gauging
- Hits are scored by the best edge, checked with a lensless .224 in (5.69 mm) gauge: a hole touching a ring scores it. A mouche needs the gauge’s flange at least tangent to the tiny black dot printed at the centre of the 10.UITS rules 26, 27 and 28
- Misses and extras
- A shot within a bull’s frame that misses its rings scores 0; shots around the bulls that touch no frame neither score nor cost points. Two shots in one bull count as the worse, less 1 point.UITS rules 27 and 29
- Ties
- Ties are broken by score, then mouches, then First Miss: counting from the first bull, the first that is not a 10 (if all are, the first without a mouche); the shooter whose First Miss has the higher bull number wins.UITS rule 31

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your inner tens, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.
Scored with AI for now, which needs internet and your permission to upload the photo to an AI service in the US. Some AI scans may be free while we collect photos of this target; then each uses an AI credit (sold in packs in the app). Scoring by hand is free.
