NRA A-26 50m Rifle target

The A-26 is the NRA card for the metric-range stage of Conventional Prone, forty shots at five to a bull, one of the four matches in the 1600 aggregate. Ranges measured in yards shoot this stage on the A-27, and both count toward one national record; a perfect 1600 in a registered outdoor prone tournament earns a place in the NRA's 1600 Club.

How it is shot

Course · National records · Time and sights · Sighters · X ring · Aggregate ties · Extra shots
Course
The 50 m match is 40 shots, or 20 in its short form, five to a bull; targets are customarily changed after each 20 shots, with the same time limit for both halves.NRA rules 7.1, 7.2 and 7.2.1
National records
40 shots at 50 m on this card and 40 at 50 yd on the A-27 count toward the same national record, and either is one of the four matches of the 1600 aggregate.NRA rule 17.5(a)(3) and (5)
Time and sights
Prone time is one minute per record shot, set for each stage; in the NRA's one-day Conventional Prone this match is fired with any sights, the 50 yd match and the Dewar with metallic sights.NRA rules 8.2(b) and 7.6
Sighters
Outdoors, a first sighter landing wholly below a line midway between the sighting and record bulls must be reported to the range officer before another shot on the card; any later shot below that line counts as a record shot.NRA rule 9.2.1(b)
X ring
Any hole touching the outside edge of the X ring counts as an X. X's break ties first, rank scores and set national records in outdoor conventional prone.NRA rules 14.3(c) and 15.7.1
Aggregate ties
In conventional prone aggregates, ties that survive the X count and the 100 yd checks are decided by the same checks on the A-26 or A-27 cards, then on the 50 yd A-23 cards.NRA rule 15.7.1(b)
Extra shots
If a shooter fires more than the required shots on a card, only the required number of lowest-value hits count, less one point for each excess hit, taken from the highest hit; a 10X or 10 so penalised becomes a 9.NRA rule 14.7(a)

The Shooter app's scan screen, shown with an ISSF 10m Air Pistol card: each shot marked, the score, and the size and centre of the group

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your X count, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.

Scored with AI for now, which needs internet and your permission to upload the photo to an AI service in the US. Some AI scans may be free while we collect photos of this target; then each uses an AI credit (sold in packs in the app). Scoring by hand is free.
