BDS 300m Rifle ZF (Z8) target

The BDS-300m-ZF-Scheibe carries four BDS precision events for scoped rifles: the high-performance class (Hochleistungsgewehr), scoped self-loaders, and scoped rifles up to and over 7 mm, all shot prone off a bipod. Depending on how the range runs the match, shooters also take turns marking hits in the butts.

How it is shot

Course · Rifle · Ammunition · Marking duty · Shared lanes · Distance · Scoring and ties
Course
District championships shoot 15 shots in 15 minutes, state championships two series of 10 and the German championship three, each series in 10 minutes; ranges with alternating target frames may adapt this. Any number of sighters may be fired in 5 minutes first.BDS L 6.02 and L 6.04
Rifle
All four are shot prone rested, the rifle on a bipod with legs at most 40 cm apart; the high-performance rifle may weigh 10 kg with any optic, the scoped rifles 7.5 kg, with optics up to 12× in 4107 and 4110.BDS L 6.01 and L 14.08.7
Ammunition
The high-performance class takes magnum-named cartridges of 7.62 mm (.30) to 11.63 mm (.45); others need a case at least 68 mm long below 9 mm calibre, 62 mm from 9 mm. Hook buttplates are not allowed.BDS L 6.01 and L 14.01.3
Marking duty
Depending on how the match is run, shooters must serve as markers in the butts; one who does not is struck from the results, and deliberate false marking can bring disqualification afterwards.BDS L 6.07
Shared lanes
On ranges with alternating target frames, six shooters share a lane: two shoot in turn, two prepare and two mark in the butts; each pair has 10 minutes of sighting and at most 60 minutes for the record shots.BDS L 6.06.3
Distance
For practice and club championships, 300 m events may be shot at 100 m (or 200 or 250 m where only those exist), if the range approval allows; as a competition at 100 m, the BDS-50m-ZF card (Z2) replaces this one.BDS L 1.19
Scoring and ties
Ten shots go on a card before it is changed. A shot scores the higher ring when it visibly touches the dividing circle; ties go to the most 10s, then inner tens, then 9s, 8s, 7s and so on.BDS L 6.05, A 9.02 and A 9.03

The Shooter app's scan screen, shown with an ISSF 10m Air Pistol card: each shot marked, the score, and the size and centre of the group

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your inner tens, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.

Scored with AI for now, which needs internet and your permission to upload the photo to an AI service in the US. Some AI scans may be free while we collect photos of this target; then each uses an AI credit (sold in packs in the app). Scoring by hand is free.
