BDS 100m Rifle ZF (Z4) target

The BDS-100m-ZF-Scheibe carries two BDS skill events for scoped self-loading rifles: three series of 10 shots in 40 seconds each, prone off a bipod, with a magazine change inside every series. It also serves precision with the Präzisionssportgewehr — on paper, five shots to a card — an optional event not held at the German championship.

How it is shot

Shots per card · Precision course · Skill events · Magazines · Rests · Excess shots · Scoring and ties
Shots per card
Without electronic scoring, precision hangs two of these cards for each 10-shot series, five shots on each, hits recorded after 10 shots; the skill events 3416 and 3420 use one card for all 10.BDS L 2.07 and L 5.07
Precision course
Precision at 100 m: district championships shoot 15 shots in 15 minutes, state championships two series of 10 and the German championship three, each series in 10 minutes, after any number of sighting shots in 5 minutes.BDS L 2.04 and L 2.06
Skill events
The skill events are 30 shots in three series of 10, each in 40 seconds including a magazine change, with at least 1 shot before the change and 2 after; a series without a change scores zero. "Feuer" comes 7 seconds after "Achtung".BDS L 5.04 and L 5.08
Magazines
The magazines hold 10 rounds in all; a spare for stoppages may hold one round and must lie clearly apart. Loading more than 10 disqualifies, and during the change the barrel may not swing more than 30° off the line to the target.BDS L 5.08
Rests
Skill events are prone rested: only a bipod (legs at most 40 cm apart, off the mat) supports the rifle, the butt may rest on the free hand. Those 55 or older at the start of the sport year may sit where the range permits.BDS L 5.02, L 14.08.6 and L 14.08.7
Excess shots
Too many shots in a series disqualify; but where a series is split over two cards, as in the 100 m ZF events, the best surplus hits on the first card are deducted and those shots may not be fired on the second.BDS A 9.05
Scoring and ties
A shot scores the higher ring when it visibly touches the dividing circle; ties go to the most 10s, then the most inner tens, then 9s, 8s, 7s and so on.BDS A 9.02 and A 9.03

The Shooter app's scan screen, shown with an ISSF 10m Air Pistol card: each shot marked, the score, and the size and centre of the group

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your inner tens, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.

Scored with AI for now, which needs internet and your permission to upload the photo to an AI service in the US. Some AI scans may be free while we collect photos of this target; then each uses an AI credit (sold in packs in the app). Scoring by hand is free.
