SSV 10m Air Rifle target
The air rifle face as the Swiss shooting federation (SSV) uses it in competitions of its own. Anyone can shoot the Volksschiessen at a club, without a licence and as often as they like, collecting a bronze, silver or gold wreath award as their points add up; licensed shooters meet in club, group and cantonal team competitions. The same card is also used as the DSB Nr.1 10m Air Rifle (DSB, Germany), the IAU 10m Crossbow (IAU), the ISSF 10m Air Rifle (ISSF), the NRA AR-5 10m Air Rifle (NRA, United States) and the SvSF 10m Air Rifle (SvSF, Sweden).

SSV awards
The SSV’s Volksschiessen is meant to bring people to sport shooting, and most who shoot it hold no licence: in 2025, 7,868 of the 10,835 shooters in its 50 m edition. Most awards in the 300 m Einzelwettschiessen are Kranzkarten rather than badges, 92 percent of them in 2025. The Sportschützenauszeichnung is there to draw more shooters to club and popular shoots.
Classes go by birth year, as the age reached in the year the season ends. A Kranzkarte (wreath card) is a card worth the francs shown, given as, or instead of, a wreath badge.

- Volksschiessen
- Clubs hold the Volksschiessen between October and April. Anyone may shoot it, without a licence and several times a year, in passes of 10 single shots, as many passes as they like.SSV AFB SVS-G10 2, 3, 4.1 and 5.2
- Club competition
- In the Vereinswettschiessen, licensed members shoot once a season for their club: two passes of 10 single shots, one shot to each bull. The club score rests on compulsory results from 70 % of its licensed shooters, at least six.SSV AFB SVWS-G10 2, 5.2 and 6
- Group championship
- In the Swiss group championship, club groups (four elite shooters, or three juniors) shoot three main rounds, each shooter firing 40 shots standing free a round (20 for U10 to U17), before the finals.SSV AFB SGM-G10 5.1 to 5.3
- Federation match
- In the Verbandsmatch, each cantonal federation may enter one elite and one junior team; every shooter fires 60 shots standing free, scored electronically in tenths, and teams rank by their shooters’ average.SSV AFB SVM-G10 3.1, 4.2, 4.4 and 4.5.1
- Wreath awards
- The Volksschiessen adds up the points of all passes: standing free, a licensed elite or senior shooter needs 74 for a bronze wreath award, 146 for silver and 216 for gold; juniors, veterans and rested shooters have limits of their own.SSV AFB SVS-G10 5.2.2 and 7.1 to 7.3
- Gauging
- A shot takes the higher value when its hole or the gauge touches that ring. Doubtful shots take a 4.5 mm “negative” gauge on rings 3 to 10, a “positive” one on rings 1 and 2, and the 10 m pistol’s for inner tens.SSV Art. 22.3 and 23
- Ties
- Unless a competition’s own rules say otherwise, a tie goes to the shooter with more 10s, then 9s, 8s and so on, sighters not counted, and then by age: juniors first, youngest first, then senior veterans, veterans, seniors and elite, oldest first.SSV RW Art. 20

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your inner tens, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.
Scored with AI for now, which needs internet and your permission to upload the photo to an AI service in the US. Some AI scans may be free while we collect photos of this target; then each uses an AI credit (sold in packs in the app). Scoring by hand is free.
