NRA A-51 50yd Rifle target
The A-51 is the ISSF 50 m target scaled down for yard ranges, used for NRA Metric Prone and Metric Position (prone, standing, kneeling) at five shots a bull. A hole touching its inner ten is a centre shot, the first tie-breaker, and F-Class smallbore shooters are advised to use it when shooting prone alongside target rifles.

CMP Achievement Awards
Every CMP rulebook, from air gun and smallbore to service rifle, pistol and the CMP Games, sets achievement awards as an incentive to take part and improve. In EIC matches, shooters already Distinguished, who earn no more credit points, still compete for achievement pins. If extreme weather lowers every score in a CMP Games match, or many competitors are new, the match director may lower the bronze score, but not below the 40th-percentile competitor.
Gold, silver or bronze for equalling or exceeding the cut score in one match at a CMP-sanctioned or CMP-run competition. The cut scores come from earlier national championship scores, set so that roughly the top 40 percent of competitors earn an award: the top sixth of them gold, the next two sixths silver, the rest bronze.

How it is shot
Metric Prone · Metric Position · Rifle · Records · Perfect score · Ties · Position ties
- Metric Prone
- Metric Prone here is 40 or 60 shots, or 20 in the short form, five to a bull, at one minute per record shot; the metric Dewar adds 20 shots on the A-33 at 100 yd to 20 on this card.NRA rules 7.4, 7.4.1, 8.2(b) and 17.5(g)(1)
- Metric Position
- NRA Metric Position is 10, 20 or 40 shots in each of prone, standing and kneeling, five to a bull, with one minute per record shot prone, 1½ minutes kneeling and 2 minutes standing, plus at least five minutes per position change.NRA rules 7.5 and 8.2(c)
- Rifle
- Metric Position is shot under the Any Rifle rule, which a sponsor may not waive: any safe trigger, nothing more than 3 in behind the shoulder, and no hooks around the body or shoulder.NRA rule 3.2
- Records
- In Metric Prone, 40 or 60 shots here count toward the same national records as on the A-50 at 50 m; Metric Position records may be set on either card, indoors or outdoors, each at its own distance.NRA rule 17.5(g) and (i)
- Perfect score
- A perfect score in an individual match, every shot a ten, lets the shooter keep firing under the same conditions until a shot leaves the ten, to break ties and set national records; for records, a multi-position event continues standing.NRA rule 9.7
- Ties
- With no X ring, ties go first to centre shots: any hole touching the inner ten ring.NRA rule 14.3(f)(3)
- Position ties
- In Metric Position, ties go to centre shots, then the higher standing score, then kneeling and prone, then stage by stage and bull by bull from the last, standing first.NRA rule 15.7.2(b)

Training on paper? Photograph a card and the Shooter app finds the holes and scores them by these rings: every shot, your X count, the series total, your group’s size and centre. Holes merged? Add, move or remove a shot. Every card joins your training log, so drift shows up over time.
Scored with AI for now, which needs internet and your permission to upload the photo to an AI service in the US. Some AI scans may be free while we collect photos of this target; then each uses an AI credit (sold in packs in the app). Scoring by hand is free.
